Decks R Us

Question list

Do you follow templates when designing outdoor environments or are your designs fully custom?

We create fully custom decks designs for Colorado Springs – it is one of our key areas of expertise. Owner Kevin McGee has decades of design training and experience. He is a master designer and does not do “cookie-cutter” template designs.

The designs are done in the professional design software AutoCAD. For larger scale projects, Kevin can create a 3D deck design for Colorado Springs homeowners using special software.

How long do your consultations last?

As long as they need to! We want to always be comfortable that all your questions have been answered. We don’t overschedule and rush from appointment to appointment. We also don’t believe in high-pressure sales tactics and “You Must Buy NOW” messages.

Our consultations are more like a relaxed educational sessions. Some of what we can answer:

  • Is your budget realistic for what you want?
  • What are the steps in the process towards a finished project?
  • What would be a reasonable time frame?
  • What quality products do we recommend?

You also get the design suggestions of a true expert. And, of course, we want to know your questions so we can answer all of them.

I like to talk to references before doing business with a company – can you provide them?

Yes, of course. We are completely transparent, and are always willing to let you talk to past customers. It is always a good idea to talk to references for any deck contractor in Colorado Springs that you are considering hiring. For more information, visit our References page.

Will you have the lowest quote?

Probably not. We probably won’t be the most expensive either. Let us explain.

The truth is in any kind of home improvement, you can almost always find someone willing to say they will do it cheaper. Just like you can always find a cheaper car (but you probably don’t want that car), there is always a Colorado Springs deck builder with “bottom-of-the-barrel” pricing.

There are two big problems with cheap. For one, the contractor is not likely to be in business very long (and then there is no one to go to if there is a problem). And two, cheap prices always mean something is being sacrificed. Either product quality or installation quality – or both – will be inferior.

On the other hand, we have never used our high-quality as an excuse for charging outrageous prices for decks in Colorado Springs. We know some “high-end” companies that do this, but we are more focused on delivering value. The ‘Decks R Us’ way is to deliver the best quality for reasonable prices.

Who can I call if I have a question or concern?

You will have the number for the owner Kevin McGee. Kevin is accountable to his customers and will be involved all through the process. If you feel any detail has been overlooked, Kevin wants to hear from you.

This is part of what makes us so different from the big, impersonal home improvement companies with an assembly line attitude toward outdoor living areas and decks in Colorado Springs, CO.

Do you accept credit cards?

We do not accept credit cards.

How long have you been in business?

Since 1996. We are a well-respected small business that has been serving local homeowners for 19+ years. We also have an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes and yes. We also know the permitting and coding process inside and out, and will make sure everything is taken care of correctly for you.

Remember, always make sure your contractor is licensed and adequately insured – otherwise you can be held liable for accidents that happen on your property.
